I am so glad I’m alive during the villain vindication era. Truth be told, I have always been leary of the Glindas of the world. I openly wept and felt seen when Elphaba flew in Wicked.

So you want a movie that serves
up all of the courses; from drama to death? Skip on down to see CRUELLA at the movie house. It is cleaner than ever and surely missed the movie goers. Stacie highly recommended this film. She was not wrong.

CRUELLA does all of the best Disney details: cute kids, brisk pace, memorable performances, endearing story, unpredictable, cutting edge innovation, alluring spectacle, and pithy poignance. This Disney turn is as good as it gets, IMO.

The command performances belong to E² aka the Emmas. Personally I’d also include Emma Stone’s extraordinary eyes and the acting skills of the dogs in this movie as Oscar contenders on their own right.

Overall Reactions:

Some people aren’t the best to invite to your gala if you don’t want overall party destruction.
Say what you will about the press. The power of the press used well is not to be underestimated.
I predict an uptick in chiaroscuro hair styling. I felt that the hair color duality also represented the two sides of Estella/Cruella.
The soundtrack is outstanding. The powers that be were really inspired as they assembled this playlist. Bravi.
No matter what our world deals us, economic downturn, pandemics, cicadas, toilet paper run, innovation is king (and you never know who has the magic.)
It seems to me that movie designers were inspired by Lady Gaga and Magenta in the Rocky Horror Picture show. There was a Katniss nod too with the fiery garments.
Estella’s possible love interest, Jasper, reminds me very much of Juan Epstein in Welcome Back Kotter.
I actually find this movie less dark than it could have been. It actually shows the humanity of Cruella which was expertly portrayed by Emma Stone.
People make dogs vicious, not the other way around. Also note, you never know what sports teams may interest your animals.
Family isn’t always blood. Biological ability doesn’t guarantee a parenting figure. Mommy issues are universal.
Fashion can be power.
This upper body challenged gal loved the bolero jacket.
My smoker/trucker laugh can annoy young movie goers. This time there were only 6 of us in the theater. At the end, one of the ladies asked who had the great laugh. She said it made the movie. Thanks, nice lady.
One slight criticism: some of the diction was unclear because of the accents. I didn’t get all of the lines.

ARMRESTRATING: 2 spotted white and black (no dogs were harmed) faux fur armrests up for a dazzling trip to “Disney De Vil.”
